Am I the only one who has ever been screwed or are there others out there??

As the story goes, I have a centroid M39 which is 3 years old. It was purchased with Millwrite engraving as one of there options for $695.00 and it did its job as it was sold to do. They upgraded the control on February 11 , 2008 with there latest software CNC10 v2.32. Since then the Millwrite engraving does not work. Upon contact to centroid asked why it does not work, there response was the OLD operating software was DOS and the new was Linux and it does not support Millwrite engrave.

So I asked what should I do since the software was purchased with the intent that it works, and now it does not. They told me that I can have a FREE software upgrade for Millwrite for my PC (Will not work on the Centroid main board) the catch is only a 160.00 charge for the manual.

I feel that since the purchase of millwite was paid in full and since it will not work on there new operating system, it should be a free upgrade.

They do not feel that way, spoke to them in length yesterday and they told me since the software was upgraded on February 11 I have to live with it.

There next response was that on March 4, 2008 there is new linux software the that takes care of the problem with Millwrite. The CATCH it is another $395.00 upgrade to CNC10 2.61. I told them that it was just upgraded on February 11, 2008 for a price of $1200.00 and 3 weeks later they have a fix for THERE mistake and I should pay and additional $395.00 plus install fees.

Has anyone else had this problem? It seems they are a company that will nickel and dime you to death. Would I ever buy a Centriod again ? NOT in this lifetime.(nuts)

We had our upgraded too. We recieved the lastest version of the Millwite CD upon return of the control. We didn't get a manual with it, but it's very easy to use...you really don't need one.

The upgrade overall works good.
The only complaints I would have is the softkeys don't work in many of the menus, you always have to use the keyboard.

The editior doesn't fit in the display window, the last 3 or 4 lines don't show.

Yes, Centroid is somewhat hard to deal with...I think they have a big turnover in tech people. You never get the same person twice.

Call them back, tell them to send you the CD. You paid for the package.

Yes you are right I can get the Millwrite for the Pc for free. It just grinds me that they run a company like that. They operate out of the old State police barracks in Milesburg, Pa. which is about 50 miles from me.

Your also right when you call for any tech support you never get the same person, and most times the wrong answer.

They are a little company that wants to nickel and dime you to death. If anyone else got screwed by them give me a call at 570-773-1721 . A class action law suite is in order then maybe thay will pay attention to the little guys on the street.
