I just finished my first machine today...finally.

I am using a Dewalt Laminate Trimmer and it runs at 30,000 RPMs. Are there devices out there that can control the speed thought the power cord? Is so, is there an easy way to hook it to Mack 3?

You're looking to get a speed control for your little motor, right? Here's a manual one at least until you can get something computerized.

In my area (west coast USA) we have retail stores called "Harbor Freight."

I've used their electric speed control for routers, which will slow down the larger hand-held routers used for woodworking. A smaller motor could be controlled as easily. The unit has a speed control dial. Just like a small hobby Dremel with a numbered dial on it, you won't be getting any tachometer readings.

Use: It's easy to plug in the grounded cord into the wall socket, and then you plug your router cord into the variable speed control and turn both of them on. Now turn the dial on the speed controller and listen to the pitch change with the speed.

Sincerely,

Man if you slow that thing down to a reasonable speed, 15000RPM or so, you will not have any power left. You could stall your router if you try cutting too fast.
