Hi all,
I'd like to make a 4th axis for my milling machine, but all the chucks you can get are massive compared to the size of the work. Is there such thing as a compact chuck, which is only, say, 2" dia, but can hold 1" work?
thanks
Hugo

The Little Machine Shop has a 3" dia. (4) jaw chuck.

Deepgroove has a smaller one - but may not be as big as 1 inch. But, maybe you could mount the workpiece on a stalk/shaft in smaller chuck?
(BTW - It looks like an oversized drill chuck mounted up with a stepper)

The Sherline chucks are that small. If you use a Sherline Rotary table, the chuck screws right on. This 4" rotary table also can come either CNC ready or fully CNC.
