I've attached two dxf files that show a worm gear and a worm drive. I'm looking for quantity two of each for now. This is a new product that I am working on and if it pans out there would be requests for more. I will take suggestions on material. I've spec'd. 1018 for the worm drive and gear bronze for the worm gear.
Private email me at "lewenz@sbcglobal.net" with quotes / questions.
There is no rush at this time as I am very busy with other projects. I'd like to see all quotes to me by 5/2/08.
Thanks

P.S. had to zip the worm gear dxf file as it was too big to upload.

LEWENZ, I think you'll want a steel that can be hardened better than 1018. Also, you'll need a fine finish on the worm to avoid "eating" the worm gear.

Have you investigated Boston Gear or Martin Sprocket/Gear for an available set? Or better yet, Cone drive for full enveloping worm/worm gear sets?

Just a thought.

LEWENZ, I looked up www.bostongear.com open gear catalog. There's a good engineering section that includes worm gearing info. I also copied your prints. The dimensions don't appear standard stuff. Just for jollies, look at 24 DP 72 teeth.

I believe you're working on some rotary devices. If so, are your requirements for a given ratio, center distance or ?

Maybe I can help.

BTW, I live near Milwaukee. (your "about me" says you do as well ).
