Beginner alert! (somewhat passed newbie)

I've finally gotten my X2 (HF-44991 mini-mill) cnc'd. Now I'm ready to tackle the speed control, but don't know where to start. I've read about the C6, the C10, the DigiSpeed, the Minarik, the parallel port, KBIC's, SCR's, ad nauseam...

I've opened up the back of the mill's box and found a board labeled Sieg DC Motor Control. On the board states "Sieg-Famous", also states "Sieg-FC350SMD" AND has a stick-on label covering these both up that says "05011027".

I don't know whether it's an SCR or a PWM board or whatever.

I've viewed pictures (mostly without labels), videos from the web (where someone points in the general direction of what they're talking about), read technical documents about things I know nothing about.

I just want simple instructions with labeled pictures! LOL!

Can someone show me how to do this? I would really appreciate your time in putting something together that all of us could benefit from.

so far my experience is that the c6 board wont work with the sieg d.c. spindle control. I think ill do some more testing today and see if i can get it to work. but the way that it is supposed to be wired make the spindle run at full rpms. so i am looking at a new dc control from baldor or kb electronics.

Looking in the back of your mini mill electronics box: At the upper left there are 4 wires connected. From right to left they are P1, P2, P3, P4. Get a C6 board and 12 volt power supply from cnc4pc.com set it for 10 volts max output. Connect it to P1 and P2 as shown in the X3 wiring diagram. Connect and fine tune your Mach 3 as illustrated in the manual. It's that simple.

Or you can use the "replacing a potentiometer" section of the manual.

Remember to keep your 12 volts separate from everything else.

The C6 should work with the mini mill. I gather you are connected to P1 and P2. What 12 volt power source are you using for the C6 board? Have you disconnected the existing P1, P2 wiring? Normally, you would wire in a switch for manual/cnc operation. If BOTH are connected. it won't work. How do you have your step/direction wired? Is Mach configured to recognize them?

take a look at this thread: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56349 we both are having this problem, the c6 works as described, puts out a voltage of 0-~11.9vdc when the speed is changed in mach3, i am using the 12 volt supply that is used to run the little fan in the back of the sieg x2 mini mill. but the d.c. speed control works backwards, in that it increases the speed as the voltage it senses at the pot decreases.
