Hello all,

I have recently taken over as the incharge of cad/cam section. My company recently bought UGNX but we continue using Hypermill on MDT ver 9.5 as a cam seat along with UGNX.
I have 8 years of experience in UGNX and I have customised our UGNX cam environment to our requirement. And i want to do the same with hypermill as well. Just dont want to get fooled by subordinates(hypermill users) regarding delays and errors.

One of the delay i came across is shop document creation. The user prepares a shop doc by typing manually in excel/word format leading to dealay as well as rejections in the shop due to typing errors. Want to eliminate this by generating the shop doc automatically from the software.

I know my UGNX experience is leading to talk and expect something similar to that. But I think this is a basic requirement for a cam software.

Anybody out there who can guide me in creating Tool database, Feed and speed database and shop floor document creation?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the Hypermill forum! :rainfro:

Are you not satisfied with the "shop floor documentation" that HyperView creates?

It sounds like you do not use the tool database yet. I recommend using it. It is powerful and well organized. The first thing you have to do is put in all your tools with surface speed and chip load data.

I could post the table I use for filling out my feed and speed data but it is in English units.

Cheers

Hello Dave,

Thanks for the reply.

First of all i am so new to hypermill that i was not even aware that hyperview has a shop doc generator. I will try it now.

As far as tool database is concerned, it would be nice of you if you share your speed and feed data with me. Although we use Metric units it will be a good reference guide for me to start building my own database.

Thanks once again and Warm regards to all forum members,

Ananth

This is my table (http://www.coolfall.com/images/dpreview/materialslistwithchipload.jpg)that I use as a starting point. What materials do you machine? I machine lots of 6-4 titanium now and I do not have anything in the table for that. I use a surface speed of 120ft/min. for machining titanium with carbide endmills.

Cheers

Thanks Dave,

We are an injection mold making company and normally use alloy steels (2312 and 2343), electrolytic copper and sometimes Alluminium. Since our machine RPM is limited (Max 10000) we dont use high Vc. At present we use 80 sfm for steel.
For your info I have created our own tool database and customized the hyperview report as well for our company standards by editing *.jlr, *.ord and some other files. As of now its giving me my desired output. I hope its the right way to do it.
One thing is missing is the maximum tool travel values. I want to have maximum and minimum tool travel values for X Y Z axes printed on my report(to set the tool overhang by operator). similar to attached file. but i dont know which variable to use. can you help me?

Thanks and regards,
