i have been lead to be belive that only a router type cutters can be used and that interpolating 3 or axis with a sawblade in not possable as the curve of the blade can not be accounted for
is there a way of using a sawblade to grind away the profile when the shape requires the z to rise and fall over the profile as the cutter moves along the as the Y

many thanks mark

It seems to me that you could model a saw blade as a very wide diameter end mill with a very short height. For clearance calcs, you might be able to model the arbor as a very funky looking holder.

I saw some pics of stone carving, and they did the roughing with a saw.

Not sure what software would let you do that, though.
