This is a RFQ for someone who can rout a programmed grid pattern from 1/4" tempered hardboard (masonite) or plastic.

How many parts do you need made? What size is the finish part? How comlpex is it? Do you have a drawing?

Do you have a drawing for your part? What specifically is the material, blank size?

I route plastics all day long for parts on my helicopter, delrin and halar to be exact.

What kind of parts are you looking to get a quote on?
dimensions?, drawings?...

Size is 1/4 x 26 x 27. Is a decorative grid pattern cut 1/4" deep (thru) across entire surface. Program router to cut and repeat over and over several hundred times until entire piece is routed. I will provide grid design/pattern info.

Plastic may be desirable (if will hold up better) unless prohibitively costly compared to hardboard.

Color should be a brown or black or can easily be painted same.

Must be tough plastic so will not break with normal handling - here's pic of finished part(s):

I don't know that hardboard or plastic would be suitable for something like that. I would suggest aluminum or stainless. If either aluminum or stainless will work for you, I can laser cut it. I can laser cut acrylic as well, and probably a lot faster than it can be routed and the edges are as clean as flame polished surfaces.

looks to be black delrin, which is stiff, and can be cut at high IPM speed, with that dimension, it can be done in under 10 minutes on a multicam router 5000 series.
actually a 4x8 sheet could be done in about 30 minutes or less with tolerance approaching .005 or better.
what type of finish are you looking for?

What choices do I have in finishes? No brown delrin available or is the black paintable?

we're trying a test to see exactly what we can come up with on the finish.

To all interested:

I invite you to make up a small sample (6 x 6 or so will do) of the 1/4" plastic material you have in mind routed/cut with a closely similiar pattern - cut/machined with down to 1/8" wide material left between cutouts/holes. Here's another close up of part showing cutout pattern - better specs will be furnished later.

You have not mentioned the quantity you are looking for. I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone to spend/waste the time on providing you a sample if you only need 1 or 2 of these. Its not fair to have a bunch of people quoting work when you don't tell them all the specs.

Oh, probably looking for about 8-12 pcs for starters. It's allright if I just get samples of the material w/o any cutouts - I'll do that myself manually (drill press or router) to evaluate suitability.

Sup to youse.
