I E-Mailed PROBOTIX messages last Thursday and yesterday asking them some questions. I never got any replies from PROBOTIX and I'm afraid to buy anything from them. Any suggestions?

You are right the plastic gears would be an issue. How about some more pictures?

Take a look at the Probotics equipment they have one configuration that is very well suited to the new builder.

This particular kit (currently their other kits don't offer this protection) has safeguards against shorts and open circuits that would fry a Xylotex driver board, I know I learned the hard way. The kit is $100 less expensive than Xylotex and has 200 OzIn steppers, but you would need a case.

They also have a RFIsolated breakout board I would suggest using it rather than the one in the kit, they would exchange it and just pay a few dollars more. This would protect your PC from stray voltages going back into it.

I have personally ordered several times from Len at probotix with no issues.
He has been very helpful whenever I email him.

I did recently email him and it did take some time for him to get back to me as he was very busy.

Len sent me an E-Mail message today. He got a new computer last week and he forgot to set his spam filter.

I got the stepper motor driver kit from PROBOTIX this morning. After measuring the boards and power supply unit, and making a drawing of where the parts are supposed to be mounted, I checked Radio Shack's website to see if the have large project boxes but they don't have any. I had to open up an old VCR and take the parts out so that I can put the kit inside the VCR case. How do I test the kit to make sure that it works?

I've order stuff from there. It's very high quality components, better than some other drivers in the same price category.

Len even put together a two axis kit for me as I was building a lathe.

P.S. I put my kit in a large waterproof plastic electrical enclosure I found at Home Depot. As far as testing, I just wired it up on the bench, installed Mach3 on my laptop and checked the motor movements.

I just orded from probotix the other day I talk to a guy on the phone they did not have the kit i wanted in stock so he sold me the more expensive kit for a cheaper price specs look good the only thing is i wish I had got the isolated rf kit other then that so far no complaints.

I was going to with hobby cnc but why build when for 20 more bucks i got a every thing including the power supply cables every thing

Don't be afraid, after looking around I decided to get a 3 axis kit from them.

Shipped within a day, I newbe a board and they were VERY helpfull. Nice boards too, very clean.

I ordered a kit from them a while back - Len was very helpful, and fast on responses to e-mail questions. He got the kit out to me very quickly and it's quite nice. Haven't finished building my router, yet, but I do have the Probotix kit wired up and it seems to be working great! Nice to see the motors cranking away while EMC2 runs the code.

Very nice looking boards, very helpful company - seems like pretty good prices, too...
