Hi everyone, I've almost finished building my cnc router approx 4ft x 2ft the construction was relatively easy ( chippy by trade plus a reasonable amount of common sense). So now i've bought my 3 steppers, 3 drivers and 2 power supplies and a break out board, i've even got a wiring diagram for them.
I also have 6 micro switches which i would like to use as home/limit switches plus an E stop.
Now I presume the E stop goes in between the mains power and the power supply units. can somebody please tell me how and where to wire in the micro switches ( in leymans terms please, i'm a chippy remeber).

Yes E stop should switch the AC off to the power supply.
The limits should be wired into the breakout board.
If you look on the datasheet for the breakout board, it should explain how this is done.

For safety reasons and following much of industrial practice, is to use low voltage, The preferred method is the use low voltage on all overtravels, limit switches and e-stop buttons, these would operate a multi-contact Control Relay which would switch out AC power supplies, input disable to drives, and indicate an E-stop into the controller.

:confused: Thanks for your reply guys, much appreciated. I have now wired in 2 home switches on the X and Y and will be fitting limits tomorrow.I would now like to know what determines the size of fuses to the drivers?
