Hey guy's,

I've got a large aluminum plate on the way which i intend to use as a drill fixture plate.i simply want to remove about .020 from the top surface to insure it is 100% square to spindle for a project i have to do.

being a total newb i have been reading about speed/feed rates and get alot of mixed opinions.so what speed and feed should i run my 2" carbide indexable end mill at to get the smoothest finish possible?

Hey balibalistic,
You can use these calculators (http://www.americanmachinist.com/Calculators/SpeedsFeeds.aspx) for speeds and feeds with the indexable endmill too.
This article (http://www.mmsonline.com/articles/0500td1.html) explains the formulas.
These charts (http://www.endmill.com/pages/training/spdfeed.html) break it down.
Looks like 1500 rpm @ 18 IPM if it's a 4 tooth endmill gives the recommended .003 chip load per tooth.
Increase the rpm and you can increase the feedrate.
