Hello,
I have a Tornos ENC 264. I need to flush the system and buy new cutting oil for it. Does anyone here have a suggestion or caution on what to buy or what not to buy. This is the first time I have had to buy coolant for it and am unsure what to get. Thanks for the input.

I have 7 swiss machines, and i highly reccomend Blaser Swisslube Vascomill 22. It is a vegitable based oil coolant. It works great for cutting most materials and has a high flash point. if you get into cutting more higher end materials, eg. cobalt chrome, inconel, etc. use the blaser HD. it has a chlorine additive to keep chips from sticking to the cutting surface.

Happy machining

we run hangsterfers hardcut NG in our swiss, also an ester based oil (synthetic derived from vegatable). nice high flash point, and some parrafinated chlorine. 7 weight so it pumps nice. I have tested motorex orthocut, and it's nice as well.

Martin Chemical's Remcool-V80; it's veg based, too.

I would second thet Vascomil22 but also when you need thinner for small thru coolant tools there is vascomil10. This also handles the high pressure pumps very well. Recovers quickly so you don't need to shut down to help in the recovery.
Hangsterfer's is also very good but I just don't like the odor. Has trouble with the hi-psi pumps though.

We used to use Hangsterfers at Hewlett Packard. Not stinky like some other types. Also used Cut Max to prevent seizures of the stock in the machines that used dead bushings.

I use the Hangstefers vegetable oil on my TB Deco. I do a lot of deep hole drilling in titanium and it works great. Incredible tool life with it as well.

We are using the Hangstefers Hard Cut 525 Light. We use our high pressor systems alot and run our machines 20 hours a day. the lighter oil works great with the high pressor systems and cleans off parts better than others. We run more steel than anything, but run alot of brass and aluminum as well, Works Great!

Thanks

Question to you guys using the vascomill 22. On our star we are using vascomill 44 which I guess is thicker. When running 2011 we get a lot of low coolant alarms due to the chips building up on the side of the chip tray and not letting the coolant drain out, just wondering if switching to the 22 would help with that. We use the vascomill 22 with a mister on our 14" saw for cutting stock an it works great, smells like hell but works great.
