Can the Bobcad nest this part cnc metalcraft 02-28-2008, 05:15 PM im looking for a nesting program that can nest this part can the new bobcad do it duraflap 06-09-2008, 12:59 AM No these parts are self intersecting and will not nest. MikeTheG 06-09-2008, 07:58 AM do you need it to just cut the outside shape? orizaba 06-09-2008, 01:58 PM Time for another display of my ignorance. What is nesting? MikeTheG 06-11-2008, 02:40 PM Nesting is basically the layout of many as parts as possible in a specified area in an optimum pattern. Independent CNC 06-17-2008, 08:22 AM Anyone doing a small amount of nesting may want to look at the Cad nester form Wittlock Engineering as an inexpensive solution. http://www.wittlockeng.com/CAD%20Nester%20DATA%20SHEET.pdf Independent CNC Programmer www.ctcn.net/~3kings/ My mission is to share CNC programming innovations for a lifetime. HMB3000 06-18-2008, 11:54 AM I find that copy and paste works better than most nesting software. Yes you can do a part in part. But you can't do a part in part in part Independent CNC 06-18-2008, 01:17 PM I will agree that copy and past works if you are filling the entire sheet with the same part. Due to material cost and better efficiently it’s better to nest all required like material parts for any given day and only produce what is needed. I took the time to do a study on hand nesting or software generated nesting and found out some interesting things that may very depending on your product mix. If an order was for more than 25 with a mix of 30 different types of parts I could justify hand nesting to save material and cycle time. Anything less than 25 I could not justify my time to manual build the nests. Independent CNC Programmer www.ctcn.net/~3kings/ My mission is to share CNC programming innovations for a lifetime.
