I got this ballscrew assembly w/ servo tonight froma friend, it is a military grade seat actuator made by thomson saginaw. this unit was a rejected due to a bad seal around the power connector. as asembled it had about 30 degrees of rotational backlash. linear backlash is sufficient to feel, as a click but not enough to see. the motor is rated at 24 volts but spins nicely at 9.6 volts, i am doubtfull about the useability of the motor since the brush carriers are integrated into the housing. the screw has some sort of carier on the end but i canot identify it i would like to ask for suggersions about how to mount this and also how to drive it, also if the motor can be used any ideas about how to do so would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

ok i diid some more work on this unit and found that i can probably mount the motor if i machine down the face and use the four bosses in red, the shaft is still questionable since it has a helical gear machined onto it to use it i woul probably need to make some sortof adapter, after sleeping on it it seems that this motor would be suited to use as a spindle, with a few bearings,
