For anyone out there with carbide experience, I work for a company who is always hogging off large amounts of 304 Stainless. I want to go to my boss about getting the best carbide End Mill (with the best coating), that would remove the most material in SFM. I also need one that would last (Or have a long life under the hard use). Can anyone help me out with this matter, and maybe steer me in the right direction. Your help is Appreciated.

Its been a while since this was posted but we have been using mitsubishi feed mills and they have been incredible. They just do roughing so you need to do finish but they are worth every penny. we have saved probably thousands of dollars using these

What you choose depends entirely upon what kind of operations you are doing with the end mills, and what type of machine you have. Are you doing face milling, side milling, slot milling, end milling, or ???

High-feed mills are great for high material removal rates, but you need a fast-processor machine to take advantage of them. I do a lot of this, and with the Valenite V556, I also can use it to mill out bores using helical paths. If the application is big side milling, a "corn cob" style cutter can be effective.

Just what is your type of material removal task and what machine(s) are you tooling?
