I have gotten a toolpath generated for a sample of our profile but have a few questions. How do you create a tool path in which router would actually travel along curve instead of just back and forth on an angle? What kind of software do you use for model and cutting? I am learning a little on my own but it is a little different than just 2d stuff. Thanks Dan Rico55 03-04-2008, 09:27 PM I use Rhino for this kind of modeling; you can define your curve and extrude the profile of your casing along it. ArtCam will do this also. VisualMill will allow you to machine along a curve, or within a boundary. Most Cam software has some kind of 3d contour pocketing that will machine within your boundaries, and along the curve. Let me know if you need some help with this. ger21 03-05-2008, 08:15 AM Since I don't do this often, I just use AutoCAD and draw the toolpaths manually. It's really no different then making moulding on a router table using multiple bits. |
