Hello all-

I am new here and to the world of CNC both. We have a precix industrial series router with a 5x10 table that we use primarily for plywood profiling, along with the occasional sign or pink foam contour cut. Yesterday, while finishing a job, the router threw a z-axis following error. This effectively froze the z-axis, and we were unable to clear it. Upon trying to move the machine in x or y or home it, it threw x and y errors as well. The entire machine is completely frozen as of this point. The only other appreciable data we can collect from the machine in terms of why it is showing these errors is that all three limit lights on the front of the controller are on, otherwise we are stumped.

Precix support is currently out until tuesday due to the holiday, so any kind of a fast response would be most appreciated, since we have a high volume of cutting on tap for this week.

Thanks much all!

try shutting the machine down clean off the limiting sensors then try to move the ballscrew so the z axis can move up then restart. if that dosnt work check the control box for dirt and all of your cables for wear or a break were it could ground out

the limiting sensors could be broken right ? this is way the message of "following error on axis" when i try to move around the gantry ?

ok, my limit sensors arent broken,

i will try to explain the all picture.

that machine was a present for a relative, he gave it to me the last month, so i said yes i accept to repair it and to make some personal designs with the machine.

about the cables and the parts that the machine have are this:
the full servomotors working, the router, the computer box.

i change 1 cable of the limits i doble check the continuity with a ohmeter and was ok, so i decide to turn on the machine "today".

i readed the manual, and it said something about homing, so i try that test, moving the gantry with the hand with the Red button pushed "no power to servos", in the program the change was present in all the axis, so next test was to try it with power, so i did that, and when i clicked on the small arrow, the machine moves like .001inches and the error pops up "Following error on X axis"

im stucked right now :(

thanks for the help btw

-did you check cables? Are they cracked or broken? Plugged in?
-did you check for a blown a fuse at the back of the controller? There are two fuses at the back of the controller.

You can also get tech support for precix machines at www.cncdoctor.com

Yes, Everything is ok fuses, cables.

The problem seems to be on the Homing part. and in the Jog moves via the software.

when i try to home the router a error pops up "Following Error on the Z axis" and the homing procedure faults.

any idea.
