I have a client who wants me to cut out a sign for him. Essentially it will be a light box with the letters cut out of 1/2" MDF, sprayed and opal perspex inserted in a rebate . He can send me the logo via email . How do I get it from my email on my laptop to my works computer and get Alphacam to recognise it ?????

are you working for a company who uses alphacam, what do you normally do with it, alphacam is planits software and they have no shortage of support on this.

More than likely, the clients logo was created with some sort of art software (adobe, corel, etc). Each has a provision for export as a dxf file. Inform your client you need a dxf file. Upon receipt of that e-mail, copy the file to a cd on your notebook, transfer to your work pc. Import the dxf file into Alphacam. You may need to clean up the file a bit in Alphacam before it can be routed. Hope this helps. I work with alphacam and art files often, this should work for you.

The latest update was I got the drawing in dxf format and exported it to alphacam. It turned out that the text was made up of splines so I went to geometery and changed splines to lines and arcs and then I scaled it up to the size I wanted and cut it out. It was simpler than I thought. Pics to follow.
