I know that there is a forum for Smithy machines, but is seems pretty dead, so I thought I would bring this up with you guys. The Smithy 516 is an interesting machine and can be purchased CNC ready (ground class 5 ball screws, steppers, no drivers/controller) for $1865. This compares pretty favorably with an x2/cnc fusion machine or a taig. Does anyone have any insights on this machine?

I purchased the Smithy 1324 and in my opinion it was the biggest peice of junk I ever experienced. No matter what that company produces I will never ever never buy anything else from them.

My opinion. Sorry for being so harsh - it cost me a chunk of wasted change

The lowest price option I could find on their web site was USD 3,395.

Smithy will sell you one that is not PC ready for $1865. You must supply the control system/PC etc. They don't advertise this, but if you call them they will tell you it is available.

Smithy is just reselling Siegs machines .... I looked at them and I think they are over priced and have a horrible warranty - read the cnc machine warranty! not the regular one
