Im building a X2 size Mini Mill using a X&Y ENCO Table "Like CNCfun&games is using in his POST". The X&Y screws are 10TPI.
And the Z axis will be the same 10 TPI. Will be using Ball Bearings on all screw Axis.
Want it to be able to have the power to cut with a max 1/2" end mill & 2-3" Fly cutter on Steel.
I want steady movement & holding power from the stepper motors.
OK! With that said I would like to know what "OZ" 23 size stepper motors I should get to do the job? I was thinking 285 OZ.
But may be I need 300-400 OZ stepper motors? Since im milling Steel?

will you change the screw for ballscrew? or you will keep the acme, and yes i would go for something around 400 anyway there is about a 15$ difference between a motor ~200 and one ~400 and its worth the money how will you make your z axis?

Hi ataxy
My understanding is the acem 5/8-10TPI would work just fine.
As for my Z axis.
I have a extra acem 5/8-10TPI x 22.5" that was bent on the ends.
Its From my ENCO Mill Table getting damaged in shipping.
Very happy seller had replacment parts.
So what im thinking is; do my Z axis some what like a Sherline mill has.
Meaning atach it to the Top end of Mill column Assembly with thrust type bearings. And on the Spindle Head Assembly have it treaded.
Sooo as the acem screw turns it moves the Spindle Head only.
Its acem would be supported on both ends with bearings.
Its hard to explain in words. I have a 5400 Deluxe Sherline.
"Used it for 7 years"
Thats how I got the idea, by looking at the X2 mill parts and the way Sherline made there Mill.
Say anyone know ho has the best prices on Stepper motors & Drivers?
Looking for a 4 axis Driver board.
