em123 01-15-2008, 09:48 PM Help!
I have a bunch of new r8 spindles sitting around and they dont have a part # on them, I would like to sell some of them off but I dont know what model they are for. I could get the measurements, but I am not sure what to do with them. Is anybody interested or have any suggestions?
lakeside53 01-17-2008, 08:34 PM I might be interested in one. Any pics or basic measurements?
em123 01-17-2008, 09:45 PM yes, it is a brand new r8 spindle with bearings. The overall length is 21.5 inches. I currently have one on ebay here is the link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300190306348&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DSelling
I am willing to sell them of ebay as well.
klxrcr 01-21-2008, 10:24 PM Its not an R8 from what I can tell as it has drive lugs, maybe bt30 or nst30? some ez traks and many clone mills use a similar spindle taper.
9 1/2 01-21-2008, 10:59 PM Ditto, me thinks BT30. R8 wouldn't have the drive lugs on the bottom. Still none the less an excellent deal. I buy one for spare (for my V2XT if it would fit & if I had the spare 350.)

mxtras 01-22-2008, 03:36 PM It is a BT-30.
I wouldn't mind having one.
Just for your info - they have been selling for the last year on E-bay for less than half of what you are asking.

em123 01-22-2008, 03:40 PM I am willing to sell for less I am just trying to figure out what they are worth as well.
Please note that isnt rust on them it is anti rust grease
lakeside53 01-23-2008, 12:31 AM Price - It depends on whether they are geniune BP or Taiwan. Are the lower bearings ABEC7 or 3?
You might have to take apart a little to see exactly what the precision bearings are.
They are not built like the R8 J-head spindles. There is no locking nut on the top bearing and it looks (on the Ebay pic) like there is some form of adjuster right above the upper precision bearing.
Can you post a pic of the lower section?
em123 01-23-2008, 08:12 AM I can take one apart later today, for now here is a picture of the lower section

Will these fit a series 1 vari-speed bridgeport?
em123 02-07-2008, 07:50 PM not sure, but if it doesn't I will send refund if you send the spindle back
awerby 02-08-2008, 02:51 PM Do they say "Bridgeport" on them anywhere? They don't look like R-8 to me either; but sort of like Universal Kwik-switch, which has the 2-lug design with snap collar. These take an air brake to operate, or they just spin instead of releasing. If you don't know what exactly they are, do the research before trying to sell them.

That is how this thread started. I'd be willing to try one but not for $350. maybe take the 3 off of that...and I dont own any bt30 tools.
