Hi everyone,

Here are some of the parts I have built so far for my CNC Router.

I hope to make it out of aluminuim and MDF, The cable chain is DIY out of opal acrylic.

I am using two of the hobbyCNC 305oz/in motors for the X and Y axis and a Minebea 120 oz/in stepper for the Z. If the Minebea isn't powerful enough I have two more HobbyCNC motors sitting ther that I can swap it with.

The bearing holders are out of stainless steel. I have made custom bearing spacers out of 4mm aluminium. They are tapped out to M8 and clamp the bearings securely. the nut on the back of the angle then hold the bearing square to the surface.

The heatsinks on the hobbyCNC driver board are out of dead computer power supplies.

The last pic is of three computer power supplies paralelled to put out 36volts at 8amps. I made a custom case out of ACM and clear acrylic. Cost all of NZ$9.00 for that power supply :D:D

I have yet to complete the drawings because I need to know the size of materials.

Shannon.

Shannon,

You're definitely off to a good start!

Love those stand-offs for the skate bearing slides along with the E-Chain.

For those of you who may of missed Big S' E-Chain contribution why not check it out, starting in Post #105, of this thread, DIY Cable Carrier (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25257&highlight=acrylic&page=9)

You are one creative guy. Keep up the good work.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of your build,
