I have a Roland EGX 30 at work and have Dr. Engrave that I use to make my signs and what not on. The only problem is that the software sucks for anything other than basic text. I have been looking at different programs like Vcarve and Desk Engrave, and meshcam, and a few others.
I'm just wondering if I can use them with the Roland engraver or not. I have tryed looking up info on it on the internet but there is not alot of good stuff out there.
I dont know if i can configure it somehow to work w/ turbocnc or mach3, or something else.
Anyone out there have any Ideas?

Hi,
VCarve Pro should run the EGX-30 and you can test this using the Free Trial verson of the software available from the Vectric web site.
See > http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/products/download.htm
Open one of the Evaluation files from the left-hand side of the interface and the toolpaths for these files can be sent directly to the engraver.
For example open the Bulls Head file
Open the Toolpath Tab - Top Right of the interface
Double click on the Toolpath in the list to edit the settings
Select an Engraving cutter
Specify the Flat Depth = 0.040"
Calculate the toolpath
Click the Save Toolpath icon and select the Roland EGX-300 postprocessor
(This is the same as the EGX-30)
Check the option to Output Direct to the machine
Select the Roland Printer Driver you have installed on the PC
The Output Toolpaths button will then send the data direct to the machine.
See the atatched images and contact support@vectric.com if you have any
questions or we can help in any way.
