No, I don't mean the end of the world.

I'm starting to wonder when the end of the GW eco-scare will happen. As far as I can remember the Ice Age eco-scare of the 70's just faded away. I don't remember a definite point where everyone figured out that it was a scam. It just went away. I think the eco-scare propagandists learned from the last one and that's why they inject the false sense of urgency. They know they don't have have a lot of time before even the sheep figure it out for the scam it is.

I think this week's cold snap signals the beginning of the end...

Why is it that a cold snap = bad weather, while

nice weather = global warming?

The double-edged sword of the Internet, used to spread bull about global warming, is also being used to spread the truth about the bull. The same political social bent in thinking which has gotten so far by encouraging cynical thought, has also encouraged the cynical thought questioning global warming.

It's a beautiful thing.

If I were to choose a real thing to worry about for the future, it would be island mount collapses like La Palma or Hawaii and the tsunami they could generate, or maybe the super caldera under Yellowstone, and then brainstorm countermeasures. Of course, those don't readily offer easy inroads by certain people to curtail liberties, increase their power, etc. They do empower us inventor types and maybe that's why we're drawn to do what we do.
