View Full Version : rigid tap with live tooling? dahui 12-22-2007, 10:26 PM Hi all, Just wondering if you can rigid tap with live tools on the TL-15 thanks in advance APP 01-08-2008, 11:02 AM Yes. Use a G95. dahui 01-08-2008, 11:05 AM Ah finally! Thanks very much. Just trying to decide whether to splurge for live tooling or not. Haven't used a machine with live tools before. APP 01-08-2008, 11:18 AM I personally wouldnt even think about a lathe that didnt have live tooling. I was on the fence for years, but it seems every single part I run uses live tools...dont think I could live without now. BTW I run one job that I tap 8620 cast steel with a M17 tap an inch deep...works great. I was scared it wouldnt have enough power. I have also thread milled the same with excellent results (my customer wanted a smaller PD on one run). I also do tons of aluminum parts that have a big asthetic quotent to them. Hope that helps. dahui 01-13-2008, 11:04 PM That does help! Thanks very much for your response. It's a big additional expense but seems like such a powerful option in terms of versatility. |
