Does anyone here own, or use a Fryer CNC lathe? I only recently discovered their line of tools via a link on another website, and would appreciate any info or experiences on their lathes. I'm considering their 14'' manual/CNC lathe, as opposed to a Haas TL-1.

not sure how their lathes are , a company i was at a few years back bought the mill and it was pretty scary , apparently the processor wasn t quick enough to keep up and it would drive the spindle into the rotary table at random , they may have improoved since then but i wouldn t go anywhere near one again without a garbage can lit for a shield .
i beleave you would be better off with the hass

Well I will tell you straight up, I have never ran one, but worked for Makino as a field service person a few years ago. Obviously like comparing a Ferarri to a Fiat, but I was out in lower Wisconsin at a die-mold shop doing an install and service on some of their Makinos, and I noticed that they had a larger Fryer vertical machine. I got to looking at it one day while taking a break, and noticed that it seemed to be like a "Huffy" of the machine tool world...if you know what I'm getting at. I got to talking with one of the lead machinists; he had said that Fryer had given them the machine to use as a trial, and it had been barely up and running because of so many electronic issues and support problems. He said they would've rather had the empty space back where the machine sat. On a side note, I was at IMTS back in 2006 and happened to stroll by their booth. Compared to the rest of the exhhibits, it seemed like they brought slingshots to the gun show.
