I've got a 1985 Hitachi Seiki HC500 horizontal mill that we got a little while ago and it looks like the palette is misaligned by about 0.35 deg. The problem is, the palette is indexable at 1 deg increments.

Its not a big problem, other than that when the palette changes (2 palette machine) its a little rough and bangs a little. But I could probably work around this problem since its always consistent.

We tried to get at it the other day, but it looks like a lot of work and disassembly just to open it up and have a look at whats in there, let alone fix it.

Anyone out there dealt with a similar problem on this or any other machine?

Thanks in advance...

Is the pallet changer misaligned or is the pallet misaligned on the table after clamping?

Its the palette on the table. So, as far as I can tell, its the table. Both palettes sit the same way, and when measuring the table, it shows the same misalignment.

Sounds like someone crashed hard.I think you better take a look under the palett table.
