We are considering the purchace of a 1995 Hitachi Seiki CA23 / Y-axis w/barfeeder from a broker (@$45,000). I have two HT-40s and one HT23R in my plant that are super reliable. They are going on 5-10yrs in age and have ran up to 20 hrs a day constantly. These are excellent machines and are usually low maint. The only reservation I have is the availability of parts and service. Mori provides great technical support but lacks spare parts inventory. I have found other resources for parts, but it can be a crap shoot at times. I feel like I may be on borrowed time with the current models. The question I have here is; Am I opening up another can of worms by adding another Hitachi to my inventory? I would appreciate input from anyone who can help with their opinion.
