We have several Hurco's ranging from earle Max 2's to the ISA platform Max
3's. I currently have 2 of the Max 3's with CRT's going out. We can go back thru Phillips and have them rebuilt, but I also believe that you can use a standard CRT. We have connected the D connector to a CRT and had it work, but several of the monitors that are in the consoles use a 10 pin flat cable. I am thinking about going to try and get a couple of the newer flat screen CRT's from one of the local electronic shops and trying to modify them in but on the flat cables I will need to make a patch cable. Has anyone tried anything like this and do you know the pin out of the flat to D connectors? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

look at your crt's. do they say Z Axis in Phelps, NY. if so, call these people. they repair them. the video signal is standard vga. the idc flat cable you mention, in the max3 consoles, are early production machines. probably max3 multibus running ver 1.xx software. these are the same basic monitor as the later ones with the d sub connectors, with the exception of the connector. some of the monitors with the flat 10 pin idc connector also have the pin locations on the circuit board right next to the idc connector. the max3 monitors and the max2 monitors are not interchangable. ron

yes, they are the Z Axis monitors, we have sent several back to be repaired in the past. And yes, the flat cable versions are the earlier models running the 1.xx software. We have 1 monitor that came in with both the sub D connector and the flat cable connector but it is in contant production and I can't get in to it to find the pinout between the 2. If I can find the corresponding pinouts I can make an interface connection to be able to plug the flat cable into a standard flat panel CRT. Several of our consoles have started to break and we are looking into the thought of making a new shell with these style monitors. We are needing to replace a couple of them and the last batch we sent to Z Axis had 1 come back unrepairable. Just looking into our options.
