Within the last few days I applied for membership to this site and in that short time I have learned much from just browsing thru some of the posts.
My first experience with a lathe was at the age of 14 while in my freshman year in high school. A lot of changes have been made since.

I am trying to decide which lathe to buy,I am definite about one aspect and that is I want a 9 x 20. I've been looking at the Harhor Freight vs the Grizzly.
Someone commented that the 9 x 20 lathes are very near the same in
construction and ability. The major differance is cost and what you get for your money,I downloaded the instructiom manual for each of the above models and I tend to agree.

One of our members in one of his posts referance an article Titled
"Instructions On How To Use Use A Lathe" which is very informative.
Reading this article I see my first project (Fig 7-30) "Lathe Milling Fixture"
they referance instructions and parts list, TM9-3465-200-10 does anyone know what this is and how I can get a copy?

I would welcome any comments

Thanks

I googled this number (TM9-3465-200-10) and got exactly one hit: your post on cnczone. Go figure.
Since the reference to this is in an Army Technical Manual (TM) you might try to find an outfit that supplies them.

Here is a link to U.S. Army's "Fundamentals of Machine Tools (http://www.metalworking.com/tutorials/ARMY-TC-9-524/9-524-index.html)". Chapter 7 is on the lathe. You have to download each chapter separately.

Chapter 9 shows a milling accessory for use on a lathe. Mind you this is not plans but rather pictures of accessories. Someone could build them but they would have to draw and dimension the plans to their needs.
