I built a small CNC router the other day and am having a hard time deciding on the electronics.
My machine has an 18"X22" table, I used sealed bearings running on aluminum angle and 5/16th" grade 8 threaded rod on all three axis.
Everything moves extremely smooth and is very accurate. I built it out of partical board because I had a sheet in my shop and if I am successful with this machine I intend on building another out of aluminum.
Anyway, I have asked many, many, many people at other sites and no one wants to make any suggestions as to what type and size stepper to use.
I want to be able to engrave in aluminum and plastic, I want to make parts for the loudspeakers I build, nothing heavy duty.
Can anyone here give me an idea as to what I should look for as far as electronics and motors? I would like to get a controller that is allready assembled because I have a hard time soldering small parts. I am not wealthy so I am looking for an inexpensive kit (CHEAP) or parts that I can buy a little at a time, motors then power supply then controller,or what ever order would be best. Here is a pic of my machine and some pics of parts I would like to make with it. Thanks for any suggestions anyone can give!
