Hello all. I'm brand spanking new to EdgeCam, but I used to use Mastercam a couple of years ago and have been using Gibbs proficiently for a while now. I'd have to say that I'm most comfortable with Gibbs at this point, which makes the geometry editing/creation all the more difficult in EdgeCAM (Gibbs definitely has it's own way way doing things). To start, can anybody give me some lay men's terms on how to use the Trim Tool? I notice that it's similar to Mastercam, but to be honest, I've never been all too comfortable with the trim tool in Mastercam either. Basically, how does it keep some entities and delete others? Also, just a quick little question. If I'm rotating the geometry all around with the ctrl+arrow keys, how do I get it to go right back to the main "Top" view before I started moving it all around?

Thanks
-John

"how does it keep some entities and delete others"

pick the geometery on the side you want to keep and it deletes everything past intersection.

"how do I get it to go right back to the main "Top" view "

on the bottom left side of the screen you right click your mouse on the view and a menu will pop up then you pick ther view you want to see (top) and everything will come back to top view.

if you hold your right click button and move your mouse you can free spin the part with your mouse insteead of with ctrl and the arrows.
hold the middle wheel and move your mouse for "panning"

if you get into the mouse setting for the computer you can change these to your own preference

GET YOURSELF A MOUSE THAT HAS SOME SORT OF THUMB BUTTON (LIKE A LOGITECH)
RE-DEFINE THAT THUMB BUTTON AS A MIDDLE BUTTON AND THEN YOU CAN USE IT TO PAN
