Here are some photos of a retrofit that I did on a Lagun 310 with a Bendix System 10 control. I made a motherboard and ps holder out of 1/4" aluminum. I stripped everything from the cabinets except the two transformers and the disconnect. This machine was making chips 1 hour after the wiring was done. The owner of this machine has made over $150,000 worth of parts in less than 6 months. Employees now look forward to running jobs rather than dreading the old System 10. I am now retrofitting a 40x20x24 bed mill with the Ajax control. I will post pictures when it is completed. Terry

Convertek: Could you post some pics of parts made with this machine please?

A few pics of the machine itself would be nice to :)!

Nice job on the control. what did you use for the wire covers?

The machine doesnt belong to me so I cant post pictures of the parts he makes. The wire covers were from Grainger. The bedmill that I plan to retrofit next does belong to me so I can show greater details of everything. I plan on using a computer case instead of making my own mounts to save time. I have the new linux version so that will be fun to try out. Terry

K I figured that would be the case (I'm almost ready to finish mine and like looking at things that have been made on retrofit machines ;) )

Hello everyone
Just sent Jesse MONEY for a Ajax system to convert a Bridgeport Series 2 with a Anilam Crusader 2
Only a few hitches so far in trying to get encoders for the SEM MT30E motors
Finally have found a encoder that matches Ajax requirments and fit the 5mm shaft on these motors. Just have to make mounts to install the encoders .
Will keep everyone informed about the progress and take pics.
Sound like it is a good system and can not wait to make chips with it.

Very nice...

I think it's great that more shops are thinking outside the CNC machine tool builder one size fits all box.

Would any Ajax control builder or user like to participate in the BPT shoot out? I can e-mail you the test program. If you choose to partisipate, you'll get the results in an excel file compared to 12 other CNC machines...
See other posts on the BPT by searching for that.

Sincerely,

AjaxCNC

Hello
The boss 5 bridgeport with a ajax retrofit works great, the only thing you have to be prepared for is to get the keways on the timing belt pulleys that fit on the motors need to be opened up to 3/16" key as the origonal is a 3/32" woodroffe key. Also the motor mount on the Z axis needs a 1/8" spacer plate on the face as the bore in the casting is not big enough bore to accept the motor register boss. Apart from these points which are not mentioned in the instructions it is a relatively simple upgrade.
GOOD LUCK Colin

If its Camsoft help you need, you might want to post in the Camsoft forum here, There are a few of us that have used Camsoft in the past.

Originaly this mill had a Dynapath system 20. That control needed a rather pricey repair so we did the retrofit. After some trouble at first, coused by too slow a computer, it now performs very well. We use it mainly for secoundary opperations, one of parts, or to handle over flow from our VMC's.
It runs every day. We cut some rather complex parts in it too.
Sorry for the mess it has been cutting delrin for days.
