I bought a computer with Esprit 2007 on it and would like to try to generate code with it but the software does not have any posts ( only the legacy ones included ).

I go to technical college where we have a Feeler VMC with Fanuc , Makino S3 and an Okuma LC OSP 5020L so a post for any of these would be useful.

I only want to generate code to see the difference between what is generated by our MasterCam X posts and Esprit.

I feel that Esprit is probably a more advanced piece of software and would like to test my theory. Somewhere I read that different Cad/Cam systems produce g code with vastly different times for the machining.

I want to develop skills with the more advanced software not necessarily the most popular.

Any help appreciated !!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a post for a YCI XV VMC, which should be close to your Feeler. I had to change the extension from .asc to .txt to get it uploaded, so you'll have to change it back to .asc to use it in Esprit.

In terms of vast differences in time, I think this would be more applicable to 3D programs, where the math is heavily intensive and the "points" generated by the software are subjective to the mathematics each CNC software producer uses. In this case, you will see differences in finish, and cycle time on the machine.

Drilling holes and tapping and pocketing you likely won't discover much, and will likely just be wasting your time. These are all 2D routines which would be more affected by step-over per pass, feeds/speeds, and machine capability for acceleration/deceleration (NC programs should be tested on the same machine). Unless you are talking strictly about, oh, lets say spiral milling down a complex 2D shape, where ESPRIT has this capability, but maybe Mastercam doesn't? I don't know. There would be such minor differences, I don't think you'd get much out of it unless you were to compare what each software actually can do, And that would take a while to learn each well enough to make an educated comparison.
