I have recently purchased Autocad LT and am learing as I go. I am having trouble exporting text as a .dxf and having it import into sheetcam. Is there a conversion process or setting in autocad that I do not have right? In the same .dxf as my text I can export a shape of some sorts and it shows up, but the text doesn't.......
Thanks for your time....

millerman,
What I do is use an add in for autocad (don't believe it is available for lt) called express tools. After placement of the text, I "explode" the text and then save the dxf file. Works for me.

I don't think you can bring text into SheetCAM. I'd try this.

Create the text, export as .dxf, open the dxf in AutoCAD, copy and paste into your drawing. then send to SheetCAM.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have an "explode" option under one of the drop down's. I will research that tonight and see if that works!!!!

I don't think it will work. You'd need the Express tools "Text Explode" in full AutoCAD, not LT.

You are right ger21. The explode option does not work on text. I will have to try the software you are suggesting......

Sheetcam can't import truetype fonts, save them as vector fonts. But then they change appearance.
Also, try DeskEngrave............it's free!!
