Hi All,
I see a lot of charts for drilling holes to thread with a tap. What I am looking for is a chart for doing external threads on rods. Example: If I want to make a ¼-20 thread, what diameter should the rod be turned to do this? I a sure there must be a chart for this?

That is the info I needed. I am not advanced enough to know what to do with a Machinist Handbook.:)

we can help with that to....open the cover, start at the top left corner, read left to right and down the page. consult index when required :D.
