Hey I am looking for a skilled well equiped cnc machinst to make a couple prototypes for me. The object is quite complex and will require several part holdings. Please email me at Teac7@hotmail.com for cads. AIM is impact301. I would like to get a quote as soon as possible.

Thanks Brian

Brian,

Sorry about the last post, I hit the wrong key and it sent.

Looks like a complex part I have done similar parts, I am not sure of the sizes or the tolerances ,
But had them done as an SLA (stereolithagraphy)
then cast out of aluminum. If it can be plastic or urethane it can be RTV cast very simply total time less than a week to have a couple of prototypes done.

There are cast versions of this particular type of frame. But I would prefer that its not cast. Thanks for you interest.

we need models/dimensions before we can even estimate this type of piece

You may as well just post the CAD files, it's much easier to give you a quote. (Yes, that's me requesting them, too.) Also, you'll have to decide what material you want it made from. That plays a LARGE role in determining price.

The frames are to be made out of 6061 aluminum. As there are a number of people interested in making the frame I would prefer to see some refrences and or demonstrations of your abilty, before sending CAD files.

Feel feel to reach me on AIM impact301

I want some one to step up to the plate. I would love to see a portfolio of parts you have created to ensure a deal.

Impact,
There are professionals that frequent this site, yet the vast majority of those that do are hobbyist, professionals in the business know that there is not going to be any thing but a lot of time involved in your project and no money for just two parts. My suspect is that the reason no one has stepped up to the plate is that the hobbyist or new to the business (Like myself) just do not have the offhand experience to quote you prices or show you portfolios of their work.
Your part does not appear (from what I can see in the .jpg) all that complex but does appear that it will be very time consuming with the many required tool paths and setups. Many hours that just cannot be recouped on two parts. I would love to get involved in it just for the experience as would others but no one wants to work for $5 an hour, it is not all that fun after 10 or 20 hours. There is a brick wall here for sure, one you hit because you are not (understandably) willing to pay for someone’s education and one we hit because we are not willing to spend hours learning with no way of recovering that time on two parts.

Not sure what the answer is, hopefully some one will come through for you.

Ken, thanks for your input. But I only initialy want two, then if completed to my satisfaction then possibly hundreds more. And there have been a few people that have showed intrest in the project. There is a large promise for more cash. I work in a CNC shop at the moment and realise how much time it takes to initialy start a part. The price you quoted at 5$ an hour. Obviously the cost for creating 2 parts is going to cost ALOT more per part than to create say a hundred. I am not looking to rip off people mearly a money making opportunity. There is not only the promise of the part but more parts in the future. I right now simply do not have the money, time or expierience to set up a small cnc shop otherwise I would do it myself.

Believe me, I was not being critical, I fully understand your predicament as I have been there many times in my life. the post was only trying to explain what I felt may be the the lack of firm quotes instead of just interest. I also think that people on this forum are very considerate and would not want to go out on a limb in making these just to let you down when they find it is too much for them, that goes for me as well.

Keep us posted,

Ken

Brian have you found the help needed?
If not please contact if you like and I will set you with my customer that make all this stuff all ready near me.
Maybe you can work a deal as they are tooled up for this type of work.
I would also support them as they are my Mastercam customer .

Just my 2 cents.

you can contact me thru my Web site if you feel this will help.

Cadcam, I would rather not go through another person to deal with a machinst. There are plenty people interested.

I think $5/hour is not enough for any work. Check with these people, they might give you a good quote for hundered parts.

Not here to waste anyones time but I can't see the picture and I don't see any CAD files either, so how can others see it to even consider quoting it?
