A friend of mine and I recently bought a Cincinnati Arrow 500 and are getting ready to bring it home. Currently the machine is not under power and the milling head is near the top of its travel. Is there a way to move the head down manually? Also the front doors are locked shut. Is there a way to disable the lock to open the doors without power to the machine?
Any help will be appreciated.

I have a Mighty Mustang with the Acramatic 2100 control. In check Z axis, I noticed it took surprising effort to turn the Z ballscrew. I thought I had a bound up ballscrew. I later realized the Z axis servo motor has a brake that is on until you power up the servo. This should keep your head from moving if you have it. I would check the length of the X or Y motr and compare it to the Z. If it is slightly longer, you've got the brake and are a lot better off for travelling without blocking the spindle with wood, although it's always a good idea. Good luck.

I've moved an Arrow 750 before. With the brake on it will be very hard to turn the screw. If the travel distance isnt too far, the brake would probably be enough. If you're going a long way you should definitely try to power it up and lower the head.

For the door, you can look on top of the door and try to disassemble the door lock. I've never done it but from what I remember seeing up there it shouldn't be too difficult.

One thing to remember is to find a way to prevent the table from moving. On our machine when there is no power the table is free to move around. We still have the shipping brackets for ours that allow us to secure the table before lifting.
