Hi Glenn,
I'm also in Southern AB, Calgary to be exact.
I also bought the rockcliff plans, as a reference though, and I designed my own machine based on those principals and many other ideas from this site and around the net.
Here's a little bit about my machine sofar.

doesn't really look much like a rockcliff, but some of the ideas are the same, I was able to use t-slot instead of mdf also.
hope your machine works out well.

hello yet one more newbie buys the rockcliff plans. i went with these plans because theres a thread and lots of builders here, iam far from Canada, being in south Tx.
plan to do wood art and rc sailboats/ships. i have been hand grinding my artwork for sevral years its a folk art style hand drawn each time and left rough, i have able to sell cheap, not much time in each peice but i want do art that more refind and more detailed
a hobby cnc would do just that,my only problem is buying the 3d software and learning to use it,i have played with turbo cads free download but still lost with it. gotta get a book and read ,read, and read some more. the 3d software is out as far as price for awhile may someday.need to learn 2d first anyway. heres a pic of my simple art.
