Hi everyone. I have to machine a new part (see pics). Material is 17-4ph SS the part will eventually be cast. What would be the best way to make this part, with the least amount of setups and run-time? Rotary table? Five axis? We had one supplier suggest to us doing the part on a swiss turn by edm'ing the female of the part in the collet of the sub spindle. However the CAM simulator showed a 7 minute run time for this part. Not good enough. Also, what tool would you use to cut the knurls? Chamfer mill? they are 30 degrees. Is there a knurling tool that can do partial knurl like that on a lathe? All suggestions welcome!
