Hi,
Having been a lurker on the forum for a while now I have got the opportunity to build a CNC machine (new shed) and was wondering whether any CNCers have managed to work out the differences between the US and Aus sizes/suppliers etc and whether it would be possible for anyone to make up a 'kit' of the special parts such as bearing blocks etc. I am confident that I can make the torsion boxes given a drawing with measurements but some of the other parts may be tricky. Obviously I would be paying for materials, postage and something for your time. Also if anyone has a list of 'local' suppliers for the parts that would also help.

I realise that the design belongs to Joe and have already contacted him to seek and he has given his approval for such a service.

I am in North QLD.

Regards

Mike

Hey Mike welcome aboard, whereabouts in NQ are you ? I am in Babinda myself.

I'm sure that we can help you out with a few things, I will be making a machine big enough to cut out full sheets but it will take me about 6 months (after I build the shed:))

Cheers.

Russell.

Russell,
I am in Townsville having moved from Ballarat almost 2 years ago and the UK 4 years before that. I am still getting used to the climate and am not looking forward to the humidity in the summer but I suppose that this is the price to be paid for living in paradise. I have contacted salty72 who has agreed to help if I can get him some drawings so I will now have to track some down.

Regards

Mike

No probs Mike, well you are not too far away then. (Only 300 k's :))

I forgot to mention that my router should be back in working order in a week or two (servo retrofit) so I can help as well if you need it. Cutting area of 650mm by 600mm by 80mm.

I know a few guys have been talking about metric drawings for a Joe's machine, they must be around.

Good Luck !

Russell.
