I am planing to build a DIY CNC laser cutting machine to cut a 7mm corian using a 120W CO2 chinese laser tube.
Any body try this before? and for laser experts is this possible?

Thanks,
Abdullah

Lazerawy,
I am looking at getting a 120w-150w Laser from China. I have been told that at this power they are less stable. Is this your experience? Do you have any advice on getting a Chinese Laser with 80w power or greater?

yes, that is right!
All chinese lasers over 100W are not stable in output power. We have here a 80W laser and sometimes the power fluctuating some times. Dont buy a laser over 100W!

What are you cutting out? What edge cut quality do you need?

If your cutting any thin sections clean through, the Corian can warp.
I make harmonicas from Corian and some colors are unusable.
I know that sounds weird but darker colors get allot hotter than light colors.
I cut it at 4 inches per min using a 2hp Hitachi router, 2 flute endmill.
I am also using an Exair cold air gun. It helps allot but some colors still warp.
I tried running some through a planer ( scary) and it warped the h@ll out of it.
Beautiful finish though.
