Hey All
Right i'm backing up programs on several different m/c and i'm having problem with a bridgeport 316 with a Fanuc O-mate controller. I'm able to download all the programs off the bridgeport to my laptop but cann't upload them back onto the bridgeport from the laptop using connectCNC, machine alarms out when i starts uploading, alarmed #087 "input is not interrupted after 10 characters read"
Verified that there is not a problem with software or cable cos both work on several different other machines outputting & inputting with different fancu controllers, therefore i think it has to be the parameters of the o-mate controller.
What i need is the the parameter numbers and what they should be set, for the following setting i'm using 4800baud,7bit,2stop,even parity with Xon/Xoff.
Any help would be great,
Thanks

Nial, I last remember I was going to look this up for you and I could not find the manual, anyway I do have the Fanuc Connecting manual for the RS232 interface and it gives the parameter settings, evidentally the 0Mate is the same as the OM/0T series.
The thing I need to know is what the setting are on the SET screen, it should show TV Check, ISO/EIA and port settings etc. This screen is a way of quickly setting certain parameters without going into the parameter set routine. I do not have the error listing for the 0Mate but other Fanuc systems with the same sort of error is usually caused by the control sending an XOF to stop the PC outputing but is it
being ignored.
I can list the setting when I know the port #.

087 ERROR MEANS THAT YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR A TYPING ERROR IN THE FILE YOU ARE TRYING TO UPLOAD. ie TOO MANY DIGITS OR WORDS RUN TOGETHER OR POSSIBLY AN "O" INPUT INSTEAD OF A ZERO.

Cadem has some RS232 info parameters etc for many machines http://www.cadem.com/ncnet/ncnet_dncdetails.htm

Right got the settings required of the SET screen.
REV X = 0
REV Y = 0
TVON = 0
ISO = 1
INCH = 0
I/O = 1
ABS = 0
SEQ = 0
I went to http://www.cadem.com/ncnet/ncnet_dncdetails.htm
and looking at the setting there it's for hardware handshaking when i compared them with http://i-logic.com/serial/RS232.htm
Al, do you need more info or is this enough....
Thanks in Advance

OK the 0-mate is slightly different from the standard 0 models, but they basically have the same parameters if you are set for i/o = 1, then parameters 0012 & 0553 relate. (for i/o set for 0 the parameters are 0002 & 0552).
0012 bit 0 = 1 for two stopbits, = 0 for one stop bit
bit 2 = 0 for RS232 = 1 for ASR33 (set to 0)
bit 7 = nfed (can be set to 1)
0553 = baudrate
1 = 50
2 = 100
3 = 110
4 = 150
5 = 200
6 = 300
7 = 600
8 = 1200
9 = 2400
10 = 4800
11 = 9600
The NC initially send a software handshake code DC1 to the PC to start transmission and will send a DC3 if it requires the PC to stop sending while it processes the sent data and then will resume by sending a DC1 again.
If the PC continues to send data after the DC3 and it is more than 10 characters the alarm 087 will come up. So it would appear you PC is not halting on the DC3?
If you still have a problem, try setting the data bits to 8 in the PC, because I believe the DC3 has the eighth bit set for even parity. Finally you could try connecting the hardware Request-to-send (RS) signal from the NC to the Clear-to-send (CS) signal
in the PC connector.

Thanks Al
Just about the dc1 and dc3, in connectcnc there's a tick box setting
"check "%", at the end of the program, for transfer termination"
We usually start & end programs with % and have this tick box on, which stop file transfer. Will this make any difference???
Thanks

You could try sending a program without the %, there are some machines that see this as an end-of-file so it stops recieving on the first %.
