Is there a specific procedure somewhere as to the correct way to true the column to the base/table on a mini mill (particularly HF). The column on mine isn't square to the table whenI run the Y axis front to rear. I have it all converted to CNC now and want to "true" it all up before using now. There's about .030 difference from front to back of the "tool to table" when running from max - to max + on the Y axis. I assume all I can do is shim the column to base mount under the 2 screws that hold them together but wanted to make sure.

Thanks, ...Tim

That's how I did it. Can you post some pic of your machine?

Sure, I take pictures this afternoon. Where do I put the pictures? In this read or in a file somewhere?

Paul, it may this weekend before I get the pictures. I sold camera to buddy and he took it out of town, back this weekend. Also, thanks for website Tom. Loosened my column and checked it then and it was pretty close without doing anything and then when I tightened it back, it still looked OK. I didn't have to shim or anything. Maybe paint or something when they initially put it together caused it to act this way when I loosened then re-tightened. ???
