Anyone heard of of a swivel head for an R8 on a smaller mill? The ones I'm fimding are too heavy and require a larger knee mill or machining center. I do quite a bit of firearm work that would be easier with a swivel at the tool rather than all the associated calculations with a tilting table. My mill is a 2hp Enco converted to cnc and the head rotates 360 degrees but doesn't tilt or swivel itself. The beast probably doesn't exist but I figure this is the place to ask.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick,
Have you looked at the SX3, the RF45 or the Industrial Hobbies machines?

Not really. I was trying to avoid looking at a new mill. It's something I can't really afford right now. I am trying to make various cuts from 22.5 to 45 degrees and setting up in an angle vise and figuring each successive cut is a pain for me since I am still a novice at cnc programming. Hitting dozens of small cuts manually is a bigger pain and extremely time consuming. Angling the tool would be a very simple solution. Then again, if I ever do figure out how to write the program and set the piece up in the jig, it would be pretty simple as well.

Rick,
Take a look at this thread. Dan (Hoss26) made a rotating/tilting head for his X2.

I would suggest reading his whole thread, but specifically look at message 279.
