I thought I would start a thread for any cool ideas that anyone has for Vectric Vcarve 4.0,

The first thing I have is how to find free sources for images that can be used in Vcarve, I found that coloring books are great, If you search "Google Images" you'll find more things than you could ever carve on your cnc router, here is a small example " http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&rls=HPIA%2CHPIA%3A2006-29%2CHPIA%3Aen&q=coloring+book&btnG=Search+Images ", & the more specific you get with the key words the better your results for free images.

Another thing to search for are stamps " http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=HPIA,HPIA:2006-29,HPIA:en&q=stamp&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi ".

Once you have the image from the internet, you can clean things up with any photo editing software that most folks already have on their pc, like Microsoft Paint.

Example, have you ever seen a "Vcarve Pro 4.0" piano (see atttached image below)? :)

Another search that will get you a bunch of cool designs is for "Mandala", here are a few examples " http://images.google.com/images?q=Mandala+&ndsp=18&svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&rls=HPIA,HPIA:2006-29,HPIA:en&start=36&sa=N ".

The image below would make a nice rosette, for a window or dooor trim.

Nice -

A friend of mine owns a buffalo farm

http://images.google.com/images?q=bison&svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&rls=HPIA%2CHPIA%3A2006-29%2CHPIA%3Aen

Will make something for them.

The thing I like best about Vcarve 4.0, is the use of bitmap/JPEG images, I think it is so much faster to edit an image than a dxf file. :)

I just purchased this last weekend. I am surprised how easy it has been to use. Thanks for showing me these links in the other thread as well. Appreciate the help.

Another rosette example, that started as an image off the net.

Anyone ever try a pcb board with Vcarve?

This started as a black & white image I found on the net, I cleaned it up a bit in MS-Paint then imported into Vcarve, just to see how it would work.

I put all the thru holes on a seperate layer, then created the drill path.

Just might work. :)

Hi Switcher,

Looks good to me and we do have a few customers engraving PCB boards with the software.
