studysession 09-01-2007, 11:59 AM Hi -
As posted before I just purchased VCarve Pro. This is one of the signs I am making once I level the bed on my DIY CNC Router.
Here is link to the thread on my router:

Attached are pics of the sign I will be cutting on the router.
cnc metalcraft 09-01-2007, 01:10 PM Nice job
studysession 09-01-2007, 01:21 PM Thanks -
Sitting here trying to learn the software. On the preview I am using MDF since on my first cuts I will actually cut it out of MDF. This is a very nice program. Here is one I am working on for my Church.
 :wee:
Switcher 09-01-2007, 01:44 PM Coloring books are a great source of images for Vcarve.

Checking out what you posted. I am new to VCarve - How did you take it from the image you posted to the carving in VCarve?
Thanks -
studysession 09-01-2007, 03:54 PM Figured it out... Surprised it was so easy to do. I am not that great of an artist.:rainfro:
studysession 09-01-2007, 04:08 PM I took a pic from the comic book site and made this. What does everyone think?

You showing me that - the possibilities are endless.
Switcher 09-01-2007, 04:49 PM Yep, & you can take that image into an image editing program (before Vcarve) & add/delete anything you want, & it's all so simple, Vcarve is very cool! :)

ger21 09-01-2007, 05:59 PM Guys, please don't post copyrighted images. It's against forum rules, and illegal as well.
studysession 09-01-2007, 07:03 PM The heads up. A lot of things are hard to tell whats copyrighted abnd what's not. Didn't think of that before, sorry.
Hopefully our US Eagle logo isn't.
studysession 09-02-2007, 04:17 PM My son and I scanned in a felt drawing he had and then put it in VCarve. I like how it came out. Have to love this VCarve and Photo Carve programs. :)
studysession 09-03-2007, 11:03 AM How does this look?
I have not cut this out yet. This is an export from VCarve.)
Tony Mac 09-03-2007, 05:39 PM Looks great!
Tip for getting better previews in VCarve Pro.
Add an Engraving Cutter to the Tool Database that has a small Flat Tip Diameter and use this to calculate the previews. It only needs say a 0.003" Flat Diameter and this will result in a flat / smooth background.
Note - the Engraving cutters are specified using half the cutter angle
So a 90 VBit would be specified as a 45 Side Angle Engraving Cutter.
I hope this might be useful.

Thanks but I do not fully understand? I want to add a few cutters. I want to add a dremel 1/8" engraving bit.
Thanks -
Switcher 09-03-2007, 06:58 PM I think Tony was talking about , how to remove toolmarks on the image.
Look real close at the toolmarks in the last image you posted.
Toolmarks are created from the stepover of the V-toolbit (tool point).
Tony knows his stuff (He is Vectric Software). :)
.
Tony Mac 09-04-2007, 05:49 AM That's correct - The fuzzy marks on the flat background are created by simulating the pointed tip of the V cutter steeping over the material. If an engraving cutter with a small flat tip is used in the software, the result in the preview simulation will be flat on the bottom of the pocket.
I hope this makes sense.
Tony
