Just wanting to know if any one has used Esprit with Mazaks, we have a QT-15 lathe with a T+ control. the pinout for the cable dosn't look right, it has no cross over for pins 2 & 3. Any one had any luck? Esprit 2007 is what we have.

Hi Castle1

Mazaks are a bit different in term of communications. The wiring is very similar but the way how the software handles with the data incoming/outcoming is a lot different. I recommend you take a look at Cimco DNC Max. They have very nice features for the Mazak, beyond the simple communication, if you wish: Remote request, subprogram support and so on....

Thanks CAMFUN , The Cimco DNC sounds good I'd like to give it a try but our company wanted to see if we could use what came with Our Esprit, I've been able to communicate both ways with all the machines in the shop now, the Mazak was mainly getting the cable right 1st, then assigning the right port, it was the most difficult of all the machines, (lets see now where did I put my notes :) .
That remote request feature sounds good though.

Have you tried to contact Mazak to get a cable configuration from them? ESPRIT is usually really good about getting us what we need, but I would start with Mazak since it is Mazak's responsibility to inform their machine customer about their machine, not ESPRIT. If you have a correct cable, the ESPRIT WDNC should work fine if properly configured, which they should be able to help with once the machine cable is ready.

I did contact Mazak and they faxed me info on cable pinout.
It's a good thing because it's not like any other cable Iv'e used in the shop.
