View Full Version : Toolpaths overlapping, enchroaching others

I can't figure this one out:

What you see is a top view of a simple, 2.5D toolpath (CYAN). The YELLOW shapes are the selected "regions". As you can see, the toolpath (1/8" bit) should not be going in between the "T" and the "H", as this will produce very undesirable results.

Why won't VM recognize the area between the two letters as too tight for the tool to go through?
I can't seem to solve this. I'm tired, going to bed. Another wasted night.

Don't get me started on VisualMill crashing on me every time I use a tool from the Geometry Bar...

I hope misspelling "encroaching" doesn't run potential responders away... ;-)

Strange
I have been on VM through 2 versions and it has been extremely stable. I have had it lock up by running my system out of memory when generating huge toolpaths, it is not VMs fault my system couldn't take it.

MecSoft will answer you on the other forum. It would be a good idea to provide more information. What software you are using (full, freemill, Rhino), what service pack and at least the type of MOp (engraving, profiling (appears to be profile by the lead in))?

The guys at Mecsoft will be taking a look at the actual file. They think it could be a bug (although they didn't specify, could mean a bug in me)....
The file was produced in Adobe Illustrator. A very clean vector.

As far as the crashing, I'm now even going to go there with them for now. I run a pretty sweet Pentium 4 w/ 2GB RAM, and plentyy good video card and RAM (on a two monitor setup). The problem seems to happen when I try to use Geom tools while in Isometric view, but I need to spend more quality time with it to correctly narrow down the problem.
