I am a student of architecture and semi-professional model builder.
I have just started an university course on the use of a Datron M8 CNC hi-speed milling machine.

My first question is pretty basic:
What is the right forum for for posting questions about the use of this machine?

Secondly, is it possible to mill brass on this machine?

Any pointers to websites dealing with this machine are also very velcome!

Best regards,
Hauk

You can check out this site- it's the US distributer of those machines. I am sure you can mill brass on those- check out the videos on the site- they handle aluminum without a hitch. :)

Yes, I checked out th site and watched the video. It is quite impressive! In fact, some people on another forum thought it was manipulated. But what company would be stupid enough to put up a manipulated video on their home page?

I spoke with the Norwegion importer of Datron and he confirmed that you could mill brass on it. He pointed out that bras is tougher to mill than alu, and suggested that you should not use cutters larger than 10mm.

Probably common wisdom for most of you, but as I said, I am a absolute beginner at this.

So I would still welcome suggestions for cutting and feeding speeds, the use of cooling etc. I will post my experinces when I actually start to use the machine.
